General Settings holds the core configuration that affects how the software behaves across the board, from the maps shown when you set up a location to the email account used to send messages to customers.
What it is for
This page is the central place for two important areas:
- Map Provider – which map service is used for displaying maps and suggesting addresses.
- Email Account (SMTP) – the outgoing mail server the software uses to send reservation and other notification emails.
Where to access it
In the admin area, open the left menu Settings and choose General Settings. The page is titled GENERAL SETTINGS.
Map Provider
This section controls which map service the software uses:
- Provider – choose between OpenStreetMap and Google Maps.
- API key – the key used for map rendering and address suggestions. This field is shown only when Google Maps is selected.
Email Account (SMTP)
This section sets up the outgoing mail server used for customer emails. Fill in the details provided by your email service:
- SMTP Host – the mail server domain or hostname provided by your email service.
- SMTP Port – the connection port. Common ports are 587 (TLS), 465 (SSL), and 25 (no encryption / internal).
- Encryption – the encryption required by your provider: None, TLS, or SSL.
- SMTP Username – usually your full mailbox address or the SMTP login issued by your provider.
- SMTP Password – the password or app password for that mailbox.
- From Email – the sender address shown to customers in reservation emails.
- From Name – the human-readable sender name, such as your company or brand name.
Testing the email connection
Click Test Connection in the Email Account (SMTP) section to check that your settings work. A dialog titled SMTP Test Connection opens:
- Enter the address in Send test email to. Leave it empty to send to your own logged-in email address.
- Click Send Test Email.
If the test succeeds, a confirmation message is shown. A full communication log is also displayed so you can see exactly what happened during the send.
How to save
- Open Settings → General Settings.
- Choose your Map Provider and, if using Google Maps, paste the API key.
- Enter your Email Account (SMTP) details.
- Click Save Settings.
When saved successfully, the message "Settings saved successfully." appears.
Important behavior and special cases
- The API key field appears only when Google Maps is selected as the provider; it is hidden for OpenStreetMap.
- The Save Settings button and editing are only available to users who have permission to update these settings; otherwise the page is shown read-only.
- On a trial environment, the Google Maps API key and SMTP settings are locked and cannot be changed.
- The SMTP Password field is masked as you type.
